When is the best time to see whale sharks?

We have records showing that we have seen whale sharks every month for the last 16 months ( as of April 2009) the times when we see the most is March and April, then around the end of September and Christmas.

Do you guarantee us seeing whale sharks?

No.

Do you have shore diving?

Yes we have great shore diving on 3 of the south side's best dive sites, see our video of the house reef here.

What will the weather be like?

It depends when you come to Utila, In November to February you will find the temperature will be in the low 80's and for the rest of the year high 80's and 90's it is possible to have rain between November and February, the rest of the year it is normally dry, during the winter is is possible to get a colder front that comes down from the north.

When is the best visibility?

We have good visibility all year round, but it can decrease if we have rain.

What electricity do you have?

110v exactly the same as North America with the same plugs

When is the best time to come to Utila?

That is very hard to answer; first you must work out what you like or what you want, hot weather, cooler weather, whale sharks? Once you have done this you should be able to tell by the information on our site.

What about hurricanes?

We are very lucky here we are just outside the hurricane belt, we were affected by Hurricane Mitch in 1998 and Fifi in 1974, apart from that the islands have not been disrupted by hurricanes so you can see you are at more risk if you are in Florida, Texas or the surrounding states.

What will the water temperature be?

In the summer the water temperatures can be in the high 80's and in mid winter down to approx 78f

What thickness wetsuit will I need?

Most people find that a 3mm is enough

How should I bring money?

Cash is usually best. You can pay by credit card, but there is a 7% surcharge in Honduras, and then, as all transactions have to made in the local currency, you will get charged exchange rates by your card company.

What will I have to pay for?

Drinks, any courses you want to do, $4.00 per day reef fee, Airport taxes and any other spending money you require.

Do you supply towels?

Yes we supply room towels, but do not supply towels for the beach or the boat.

Do you have a laundry service?

No.

Do you have internet?

Yes we have 2 computers that people can use and wireless internet in the common areas.

Do you have telephones?

We do not have land lines here, but we do have cell phones.

Will my cell phone work there?

It will depend on the agreement you have with your service provider our local services are TIGO and Claro

What are drinks prices?

Beer $2.25 shots from $3.00, sodas $1.25

Can you cater to vegetarians, vegans, or other special dietary needs?

Yes, if you can please let us know before you arrive and if you have any other special needs we will try to accommodate them.

What type of rooms set up do you have?

We have 4 rooms with 2 double beds and 6 rooms can be either set up as 2 Twins or 1 king size bed

How many dives a day do you do?

3 boat dives a day, you also have unlimited shore diving.

What is the dive Schedule?

We do 2 dives in the morning and one in the afternoon except Tuesday and Thursday where instead of an afternoon dive we do a night dive.

What meals are included?

Buffet breakfast, lunch and evening dinner.


Is all diving included?

Yes, except diving courses. If you wish to take a course this will be an extra charge.

How do we get to Utila?

What is the departure tax?

When you leave Honduras there is a $35.00 departure tax.

Are transfers to the resort and back included?

Yes.

Are the rooms air conditioned?

Yes, all rooms have air con and fans.

Do your rooms have ocean views?

Yes, all rooms are built with your balcony facing the ocean.

How long are your dives?

As long as you like within reason, we do not put a time limit on them.

How far are you from town?

We are just a 5 minute boat ride from town, we have boats going back and forward all day, you are welcome to hop on, just tell the person what time you would like to be picked up to come back.
