Scuba diving, and the treasures to be found below the surface of the clear blue waters of the Caribbean sea, has been Utila's main attraction for more then ten years. Caves, crevices, 400 meter walls and wrecks. Whale Shark spotting, a favorite pastime for anyone visiting Utila. Climbing into the water alongside the biggest fish on the planet must be on every divers 'top-ten-things-to-do' list and the largest number of sponges in the Caribbean makes Utila and the Bay Islands, one of the most desirable diving destinations in the world. This is the setting for the Deep Blue IDC, a classroom will never be the same again.

The laid back eleven-day IDC program is designed to give you the tools you need to become a successful professional educator. By conducting the IDC over eleven days, rather than the standard seven days, we can ensure that your days are complete by 5:00 - 6:00 PM. It allows us extra time for one on one coaching, where needed and to incorporate into the IDC extra presentations to ensure the high level of ability necessary for you to complete the Instructor Exam (IE) relaxed and confident. The Instructor Exam is a two day program conducted by an Instructor Examiner from PADI's Head Office.

Our new Course Director Phil Phelan is from Australia, his passion for diving began in the 70’s with the wonders that Jacques Cousteau brought to our living rooms through his wonderful TV documentaries.  In 1981 Phil took his first step with his PADI Open Water Course and never looked back.  He has worked on movies as a safety/stunt diver and also, as a Technical Dive Instructor, was a support diver for a world depth record in 2003.  He has worked for the past 6 years in Asia Pacific.  In Vietnam he owned and ran his own dive shop and having taken it to a 5 star IDC centre he moved on to  Thailand where he continued to develop his skills by becoming a PADI Course Director.  For further information go to www.idcutila.com
